Traditional hiking and hobby horsing?

"Puissance" and "Three Years and One Day" - The Journeyman's Walk - Inspiration for Hoopy's high-quality Hobby Horse obstacles

"Three years and one day" - that is the traditional minimum travel time for the journeyman's journey, which almost prevented me, as a newly trained carpenter, from leaving my home in 2010 and rediscovering and deepening my craft in various places around the world. But despite initial doubts, I decided to take on this adventure, which was to take me on an unforgettable journey.

I was on the road for 42 months, with nothing more than a bundle on my shoulder and a sledgehammer in my hand, dressed in the traditional carpenter's uniform with a large flared trouser leg and a black hat. My journey took me to 13 carpentry companies on five continents, where I was able to work on fascinating projects - from building an alpine restaurant in front of the north face of the Eiger to building massive log cabins in Norway to the unique techniques of bamboo construction and working with the heaviest woods in the Indonesian rainforest.

After almost four years, I returned to my homeland, packed with valuable experience, new skills and a wealth of learned tricks and techniques. Here I started a family and took the step into self-employment - a decision that laid the foundation for the creation of Hoopys Hobby Horse Obstacles.

But what does my journeyman's journey have to do with the high-quality obstacles we produce today? At first glance, the connection may not be obvious, but on closer inspection, the trained eye will recognize a special type of wood connection that distinguishes our products: the overlapping joint.

The lap joint is a traditional carpenter's joint that has proven its strength and reliability in countless applications around the world for centuries. It forms the basis for a large number of established wood joints and is the result of decades of experience and craftsmanship.

At Hoopys, we rely on this tried-and-tested technology and connect all components of our obstacles using neatly crafted overlaps. Thanks to the precise design and careful assembly, these connections enable optimal power transmission, resulting in an incredibly stable and robust overall structure.

The use of this traditional method of joining, coupled with the utmost care in the manufacturing process, gives our obstacles exceptional resistance and durability. This unique selling point is the result of my experiences during the journeyman's journey and reflects the passion and craftsmanship that I acquired on my journey.

At Hoopys, we combine traditional craftsmanship with modern requirements to create Hobby Horse obstacles that not only impress with their stability and durability, but also tell a story - the story of a special journey that has shaped and inspired me as a carpenter.
